Chew thoroughly, eat slowly.

Most of us eat way too quickly. And that may be one reason why we eat too much — because our stomachs need time to realize they’re full. What’s more, research shows that food eaten quickly may be more readily stored as fat.
Chew your food slowly, as much as a dozen chews per mouthful. Put your fork or spoon down between bites. Take a break halfway through the meal. Punctuate your meal with pleasant conversation with a companion. Play with your food. Do whatever it takes to make your meal last. You’ll eat less and enjoy it more.
