M = Mary　　T = Tom
T: Mary, set your alarm clock for seven tomorrow morning.
M: Why?
T: I'm going to take you to your school to register for classes.
M: That's right. I haven't done that yet.
T: You can choose classes that you like at the school office.
M: Really?
T: Well, there are core courses and electives.
M: What do they mean?
T: Core courses are ones that you must take. Elective courses are ones that you get to choose for yourself.
汤姆：玛丽，把你的闹钟设定在明天早上七点。
玛丽：为什么？
汤姆：我要送你到学校去注册选课。
玛丽：对喔。我还没办理注册。
汤姆：你可以在学校行政室选择你喜欢的课程。
玛丽：真的吗？
汤姆：嗯，有必修课和选修课。
玛丽：它们是什么意思呢？
汤姆：必修课是你必须上的课程。选修课则是你替你自己所选的课程。
