M = Mary　　Mr. = Mr. Rogers
M: Mr. Rogers, I'm so sorry to be late.
Mr.: What held you up?
M: Nothing, really.
Mr.: Then why are you twenty minutes late for homeroom?
M: I got up late this morning. But I swear it won't happen again.
Mr.: Okay. You sound sincere enough.
M: Am I going to be punished?
Mr.: I'm going to mark you down as being tardy.
M: Thank God I'm not being sent to the principal's office!
玛　　　丽：罗杰斯老师，对不起，我迟到了。
罗杰斯老师：什么事情让你耽搁了？
玛　　　丽：没事，真的。
罗杰斯老师：那么，你为什么迟了二十分钟才来集合教室？
玛　　　丽：今天早上我很晚才起床。但我发誓不会再犯了。
罗杰斯老师：好吧。听起来你蛮有诚意的。
玛　　　丽：我得接受处罚吗？
罗杰斯老师：我会记你迟到一次。
玛　　　丽：谢天谢地，我不会被送到校长室去了！
