Irish Potato Famine Cause Revisited

(DUBLIN, AP) The fungus blamed for the Irish Potato Famine was not the culprit after all.
During the 1840s, blight raced through Ireland’s potato crop, leading to a famine that killed at least 1 million people.
The answer to the question of what caused the blight could help scientists fend off similar epidemics in the future.
